Reading and sharing
Read it, print it, send it to somebody who needs it, quote a paragraph with a link back. Do not republish whole articles elsewhere, pass them off as your own, or feed the archive into a product as though you wrote it.
Ownership
The writing belongs to Devon Ashworth and to Growing Up at Home. Photographs are licensed from stock libraries and do not show my family. Brand and product names appear only to describe things and belong to their owners.

This is one parent’s experience in one house, not professional advice. Nothing here is medical, psychological, developmental, nutritional or legal advice, and nothing here replaces your paediatrician, your health visitor, your child’s school or a qualified professional. If you are worried about a child’s health, development or safety, speak to one of those people rather than to a website.
Safety
Children differ enormously in what they can reach, climb, swallow and undo, and they change month to month. Anything described here that involves a child’s safety, gates, furniture anchoring, sleep arrangements, kitchen access, being left alone, is a description of a judgement I made about my own children at a particular age, not a standard for yours. Follow the manufacturer instructions and the current official safety guidance for your country, supervise according to your own child, and never assume that because something held here it will hold there.
Doing things to the house
Where an article describes anchoring, drilling, fitting or adapting something, check what is inside the wall first, check the fixing against the actual weight and the actual wall, and understand that a rating printed on a packet assumes a wall in good condition, which yours may not be. Work involving gas, electrical panels, plumbing inside a wall, or structure belongs to a licensed trade.
Limits
So far as the law allows, Growing Up at Home is not liable for loss, damage or injury arising from acting on something read here.
